Estate agents targeted by break-ins

Two estate agents in Dunstable have been targeted in break-ins within minutes of each other.

The front door of Robinsons Estate Agents was smashed and CCTV captured a person entering the premises, triggering the alarm, before leaving with a laptop at about 00:50 BST on Sunday.

At 01:08, the front door of Deakin White in the Quadrant shopping centre, nearby in the Bedfordshire town, was also smashed, which activated its alarm.

A spokesperson for Deakin White said nothing valuable was kept on the premises and only a vape refill and some paracetamol were taken.

"We're a family-run business and have been here since 2004, and this is the first time we've ever experienced anything like this," said a company spokesperson.

"We also want to reassure our clients that their house keys remain completely secure. They are held within a dedicated, secure key management system, individually registered and not labelled with property addresses.

"They are not left accessible within the office, so there is no concern about keys being taken and linked to our clients' homes."

Bedfordshire Police said it was treating the raids as linked, along with a similar break-in at the Tui store in the White Lion Retail park, which happened around the same time.
