Further arrests after serious city centre assault
BBCTwo further arrests have been made after a man suffered serious head injuries in an assault in Leicester city centre.
Emergency services were called to Horsefair Street at about 05:00 GMT on 30 November after the victim in his 20s was attacked.
Leicestershire Police said the man remained in hospital in a "critical but stable condition".
Two men, 20 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm on Sunday, while previously three men, 18, 20 and 22, were also detained on suspicion of the same offence.
Police said all five men had since been released on bail while inquiries continued.
'Supporting victim's family'
Police said the latest arrests were made following an appeal earlier on Sunday.
Det Sgt Adrian Davies, from the force's complex investigation team, said: "We are extremely grateful to everyone who has provided information and shared our appeals helping our investigation to progress.
"We continue to support the victim's family and to keep them fully updated."
Det Sgt Davies added if anyone had any information, including mobile phone and dashcam footage, in relation to the assault and had not spoken to the police to come forward.
Extensive inquiries are continuing including reviewing hours of CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses who were in the area, the force added.
