Man suffers serious facial injury in stabbing

A man has suffered serious facial injuries in a stabbing in Leicester city centre.

Leicestershire Police said they attended Belvoir Street at 00:25 BST on Sunday and found a wounded man in his 40s.

He was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

A cordon remains on Belvoir Street while detectives continue to investigate.

Det Sgt Pala said: "The city centre was of course a very busy area at the time of this incident and we are appealing to anyone with any information, who has not yet spoken to police, to please make contact.

"Our inquiries are very much progressing as we continue to establish the full circumstances of what has happened and officers do remain in the area."
