Morgan Dorsett, 19, died after the dog attack in Bristol last year

A woman has appeared in court charged over a dog attack involving an XL bully in which a teenager died.

Morgan Dorsett, 19, from Shrewsbury, died after the attack at a flat in Bishopsworth, Bristol, in February 2025.

Kelcie Reed, 24, of Lawrence Weston, appeared at Bristol Magistrates' Court earlier charged with being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control, causing injury resulting in death.

She has been released on conditional bail and is next due to appear at Bristol Crown Court on 27 May.

Avon and Somerset Police said a man in his 20s who was also arrested in connection with the incident will face no further action.

Emergency services were called to the flat in Cobhorn Drive on 26 February last year after reports of a dog attack.

A post-mortem examination found Dorsett died from bites to her neck and face.

The dog, which was confirmed to be an XL bully named Prince, was sedated at the scene and was later put down, police said.

Reed wept as the charge was read to her by District Judge Lynne Matthews.

She did not enter a plea to the charge against her and the case was adjourned to Bristol Crown Court.

Reed's bail conditions state that she must not own or be in control of any dog, under any circumstances.
