Waterworks scheme will disrupt roads for three years
ReutersWork to replace more than 19km (11.8 miles) of water pipes is set to cause disruption in a town for three years.
Thames Water said 60 roads in Loughton, Essex, would be affected while it carried out the ongoing upgrades.
The £30m scheme aims to reduce leaks and the planned road closures will take place in stages to minimise the effect.
Mark Taylor, the water firm's director of infrastructure delivery, said it would add "greater resilience" to its service for customers.
Some of the main roads due to be disrupted include High Road, Church Hill, Rectory Lane and Goldings Hill.
Thames Water said its working hours would be 08:00 to 18:00 during the week. It would also work during the same hours on Saturdays, if required.
Essex County Council was consulted prior to the upgrades being planned.
Taylor added: "It's vital that we upgrade our ageing infrastructure and our work across Loughton will provide greater resilience to the area and a better service for customers."
