A person has been arrested following a suspicious death in west Belfast.

Police are currently at the scene in the Helen's Wood Court area of Dunmurry.

The person arrested remains in police custody at this time.

Police said enquiries are ongoing.

Belfast's deputy lord mayor, Paul Doherty, said he had been speaking to local people who were "both shocked and concerned at this news".

"My thoughts are first and foremost with the person's family and friends, who will be facing unimaginable grief at this time," the independent councillor added.

"Anyone with information should contact the PSNI immediately and assist them with their enquiries."
