Occupation film crew looking to cast more islanders
BBCA new film - set to be filmed in Guernsey and exploring the Nazi German occupation of the island - is still on the hunt for some of the cast and hoping to involve local people.
Filming for Under the Watchful Gaze is due to start in February 2027.
They said they had already chosen two local cast members to feature in the film, with two more still to be finalised.
Co-producer Adam Hooper said he wanted the film to have an "authentic Guernsey feel".
"My main thing is I want this film to be made in Guernsey, you know, I don't want it to be made anywhere else.
"I want it to have the authentic Guernsey feel, authentic Guernsey people.
"I've lived here, I was born here, I've lived here for 41 years.
"So you know, I am as Guernsey as it comes and I will make sure that that comes across on screen as well."
Writer and director Gene Fallaize, said: "We've still got a couple of roles to cast here, I'm very insistent that I want to cast locals because we looked at people all across the UK that submitted for it, but there's just something about Guernsey that is so unique.
'Bring audiences'
"We've already cast two of the roles with locals, two fairly prominent roles, but there's two others that we've still left to go."
He added: "There were a few places on the the west coast that we that we looked at, we said we need to have those and especially town - one of the key bits for me is the iconic image of the Germans marching past Lloyds Bank.
"It is such a unique image, that just anywhere in the world, you show people - they're just like 'What, did that really happen?' and I want to show it absolutely happened.
"I have every intention and hope that, with the distribution that we're guaranteed to have on this, it will bring audiences to Guernsey."
