Arrests at building site over diesel siphoning

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of siphoning hundreds of litres of diesel in Selby.

North Yorkshire Police were called to a building contractor's site at 22:15 BST on Saturday where the men were reportedly stealing the fuel from a generator.

The force said when officers arrived the pair were sat in a van next to the generator and had siphoned nearly 350 litres of diesel.

The men, aged 49 and 51, both from West Yorkshire, were arrested on suspicion of theft of fuel and burglary and released on bail.

Police said as well as a 1,000 litre container and siphoning equipment, various tools including bolt croppers and a crowbar had also been found inside the van.
