Care home still needs improvement, inspectors say
GoogleA care home that was previously told to improve is no longer breaching regulations but more work is needed, inspectors have said.
The Lodge, in Old London Road, Copdock, Ipswich, was told it required improvement and that it was in breach of regulation relating to governance and safety by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in March.
Inspectors visited the service again in July and found it was on "an improving journey and they were no longer in breach of regulation" related to safety, but it still required improvement.
Gemini Care Limited, which runs the home, was contacted for comment.
The Lodge is a residential care home that provides support to adults living with dementia and those with mental health needs.
The home can provide support for up to 44 people and at the time of the most recent inspection, 37 people were using the service.
In March inspectors said the care home was putting residents at "serious risk" and they had been worried about potential dangers including unrestricted windows, residents having access to loft areas, steep staircases and fire doors being left propped open.
In the latest inspection, the CQC said the home was still in a "repeated breach of regulation relating to governance" and that more work was needed around systems for medicines, infection control and the environment.
Inspectors said there were enough staff working at the service who had received training and residents felt staff were caring and would listen.
"Although staff were kind and compassionate, further work was needed across the service to demonstrate how people were provided with a caring service at all times," the inspectors added.
