Wetherspoons will be returning to Crewe after a pub in the town was sold to the company.

The Farmhouse in Coppenhall Lane has been purchased by the pub giant from fellow pub and restaurant chain Beefeater.

A spokesperson said all staff would be offered new roles at Wetherspoons when it reopened following refurbishment.

The previous venue operated by the chain in the town, The Gaffers Row in Victoria Street, closed its doors in 2018.

The spokesperson said there was "no specific reason" for taking on The Farmhouse, other than it was up for sale and the company "believed it was a good location".

It has not been confirmed when the pub will close or reopen.
