Essex Police has appealed for witnesses following the fatal collision in Corringham

A man in his 50s has been arrested in connection with the death of a motorcyclist in a collision.

Essex Police said the biker, who was in his 40s, was fatally injured in Southend Road, Corringham, at about 20:45 BST on Thursday.

Officers arrested a man from the town on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, driving while over the prescribed drugs limit, and driving while unfit due to drink or drugs.

"He has been released under investigation whilst the investigation progresses," the force said.

The victim's family have been receiving support from specialist police officers.

Southend Road was closed for several hours before being reopened early on Friday morning.

"We have spoken to a number of people who witnessed the incident and we're continuing to appeal for anyone who captured it on dashcam or CCTV footage to please come forward," a police spokesman said.
