Cash-strapped council to sell off former youth centre
GoogleAn empty youth centre is being sold by a council which is facing "significant financial pressures".
Cambridgeshire County Council said Whittlesey Community and Youth Centre is currently empty and "no longer required" by the authority's services.
It said it had done a review to identify buildings which "could save on running costs and generate receipts for other projects from highways to schools".
The building has been offered to Fenland District Council, which has listed it as an asset of community value, meaning community groups may request to be treated as a potential bidder until 29 July.
A Cambridgeshire County Council spokesperson said: "The youth club that previously used it for two evenings a week has now relocated to Whittlesey Library to ensure continuity of service, and the other council services based there have also moved."
It said information about the sale price was "confidential".
