Drivers are being warned to plan ahead during roadworks on an M25 slip road taking place on the weekend.

Surrey County Council says the anticlockwise exit slip road at junction 11 will shut from 23:00 BST on Friday until 05:00 on Monday. That is the Heathrow to Gatwick direction.

Traffic will be diverted along the M25 anticlockwise carriageway, where drivers should use junction 10 to turn around, and leave the M25 clockwise at junction 11.

After the weekend, further lane closures will be needed on the slip roads to finish the works.

"We expect roads around the M25 and the diversion route may be busy," the council said.

"Please consider this when making plans and check for traffic updates."

The authority said the works were part of improvements to the A320 around Ottershaw and Chertsey and will widen the north and southbound exit slip roads to provide dedicated left-turn lanes, enlarge the roundabout, resurface the road, and improve drainage, traffic signals and street lighting.

They will also boost traffic capacity and improve traffic flows, especially at peak times.
