Tram services in Nottingham are severely disrupted after the operator experienced "communication issues".

Nottingham Express Transit (NET) temporarily withdrew all services on Thursday afternoon, and said it was "unable to operate our services as usual".

The firm apologised for "any inconvenience caused" and its website said tram customers were able to use their tickets on Nottingham City Transport services.

In an update at 16:00 BST, it said it was running a "very limited service to all destinations with extended wait times".

On its website, NET said 18 of its 32 services were running to all stops.

It added: "Currently, we have major delays to services heading towards Clifton South and Toton Lane."

The withdrawal of services comes a day after potential strike action was cancelled when a pay deal was agreed.
