Planned strike action by bus drivers in Doncaster has been suspended to allow members to vote on a new pay offer, a union has said.

Around First South Yorkshire 230 drivers had been due to walk out on Wednesday as part of an ongoing dispute.

The Unite members have been seeking parity with colleagues working for First in Sheffield.

Zoe Hands, Managing Director of First Bus South Yorkshire, said following "productive talks" they had reached "a positive position that allows all pending strike action to be halted while a ballot is held on a revised pay offer".

The announcement followed talks involving Unite, the conciliation service Acas and First South Yorkshire.

Unite regional officer, Christian Ratcliffe, said the pause would allow drivers to consider the revised proposal.

"After talks, we have paused upcoming strikes to allow our members to have their say on the deal,"he said.

Unite said drivers would now vote on the offer, before deciding whether further action was needed.
