Royal Yorkshire Regiment parade 'a proud moment'

The Royal Yorkshire Regiment has been marking 20 years of service with a series of parades.

The regiment, which was formed in 2006, marched in full ceremonial dress, with military bands, cadets, and veterans all taking part.

Freedom Parades were held in Beverley on Sunday morning and in Bridlington in the afternoon.

Will Clerk from Hull, a member of 2nd Battalion, The Royal Yorkshire Regiment, said it was "a very proud moment".

Clerk said it also gave an opportunity for the soldiers' families to come out and celebrate what they do.

"Getting out all dressed up, marching through the towns makes it a very proud moment for everyone, and also the families that are involved."

The regiment paraded through Keighley on Friday and Halifax on Saturday. There are also parades in York at 10:30 BST on Monday and Richmond at 09:45 on Tuesday.

Maj Chris Brown from the regiment said: "To walk through the streets of our home communities is a profound honour, reminding us that we do not serve in isolation.

"We carry your pride, your trust and your unwavering support with us in every step we take."
