Tourism boost hopes as big wheel arrives in town
Teignbridge District CouncilA council hopes a big wheel tourist attraction will bring "even more people to visit our beautiful coastal town".
The 118ft (36m) high wheel at The Den, in Teignmouth, in Devon, opened on Saturday and will remain for a month.
At the end of April, the wheel was transported to the site in small sections which councillor John Nutley said had generated much excitement.
Nutley, executive member for leisure and recreation, said: "We know how much people enjoy visiting the area, and having an attraction like this will enhance their experience and, we hope, encourage even more people to visit our beautiful coastal town."
Teignbridge District Council said all necessary requirements for the temporary installation of the wheel have been met, and nearby residents were informed in advance of the construction taking place.
