Man bailed after pedestrians hurt in hit-and-run

A man has been released on bail following a hit-and-run in Leicester.

Detectives are continuing to investigate after four men were hit by a vehicle in Vaughan Way on Saturday night.

Leicestershire Police said three of the men, who had been crossing the road at the time, were taken to hospital, where two of them were undergoing treatment for "serious injuries". A fourth man got up and walked away.

A 38-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while over the prescribed limit for alcohol, and causing grievous bodily harm, has been released on bail "pending further inquiries", the force added.

In a statement, a force spokesperson said: "This is being treated as an isolated incident and officers will be conducting inquiries in the area, we ask that people do not speculate about the circumstances and only share factual information from genuine sources."

The police said a vehicle believed to be involved in the collision had been identified and asked anyone who saw the collision or anyone involved beforehand, to contact the force.
