Man raped teenage girl after abducting her in park

A man has been found guilty of raping a teenage girl he abducted from a park.

Jay Savage, 33, grabbed his victim and threatened to stab her after he followed the girl into a dark area of Central Park in Boston, Lincolnshire, in March.

Lincoln Crown Court was told Savage was seen on CCTV marching the girl to his hotel, where he filmed himself sexually assaulting her.

On Monday, a jury convicted him of abduction, rape and taking indecent photographs of a child. He had denied the charges.

Giving evidence, the girl said she believed Savage had a knife after he told her: "Don't scream or I'm going to slit your throat."

She said: "I was screaming 'Help', I was screaming 'Mum', but no-one heard me."

She added that Savage told her: "You can't run because if you do there is a car and they will shoot you straight away."

He raped the teenager in his hotel room, with the girl telling the court: "I had to do it because I didn't want to die."

When she finally arrived at her friend's home, she immediately reported it to the police.

The court heard Savage, who had moved to Lincolnshire from South London in 2019, had a previous conviction for stalking.

Judge Catarina Sjolin-Knight adjourned sentence until 27 November while a report on Savage is drawn up.

He was remanded into custody.
