Six held on suspicion of girls' abduction bailed

Six people arrested on suspicion of abducting two girls after they disappeared from a town in Warwickshire have been bailed, police have confirmed.

The girls, aged 11 and 12, had last been seen in Rugby during the early hours on Sunday before being found on Tuesday in Cornwall, Warwickshire Police said.

The bailed individuals include two men, aged 62 and 25, and one woman, aged 56, from Tintagel, Cornwall.

A man from Falmouth, aged 42, and two women from Rugby, aged 75 and 47, have also been released on bail.

Det Ch Supt Jon Belcher from Warwickshire Police previously said that "the people who are currently in custody are all known to the girls so there was and is no wider threat to the community".

Police said the girls had previously lived in Cornwall and were investigating how they managed to travel more than 200 miles.

They were found "safe and well" by Devon and Cornwall officers after carrying out house-to-house inquiries and deploying a police helicopter.

Detectives are set to carry out house-to-house inquiries in Rugby as the investigation continues.
