National Highways to carry out safety study on A46
BBCA safety survey is to be carried out on a main road which was recently the scene of a fatal accident.
National Highways said a study would begin later this year as it looks to make the A46 near Lincoln safer and less congested.
In March, a 28-year-old man died in a collision involving two cars and a livestock lorry at the Skellingthorpe Road roundabout.
Lincoln MP Hamish Falconer said he had been pressing for urgent action over the roundabout, adding that "the current situation is simply not safe and cannot continue".
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, people living near the junction have also voiced their concerns.
Bonita Walker, who lives close to the roundabout, said: "You can often hear the squeal of brakes when there's an accident or a near-miss.
"There've been so many crashes over the years, but the recent one was the most horrendous."
She added: "The volume of traffic on Skellingthorpe Road waiting to pull out is unreal. If I'd known it was this bad, I probably wouldn't have moved here."
Jackie Sanderson described the roundabout as "awful".
"It's so difficult for pedestrians to cross over. When my children were little, getting over the roundabout was horrendous and it's only got worse," she said.
National Highways said the study was not a direct response to the recent incident, as it had already been planned.
The agency's Phil Shaw said a meeting had taken place with MPs and local people.
"Safety is always our number one priority and we aim to find the most appropriate solution to improve traffic flow at this busy junction to benefit both road users and local residents," he said.
Lincolnshire Police said a 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving following the crash in March.
He was released under investigation and inquiries remain ongoing, the force added.
