Murder probe after man dies in Bridlington

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was reportedly stabbed in Bridlington, police say.

Humberside Police said officers were called to reports of an altercation on First Avenue at about 05:20 BST.

The victim was taken to hospital, where he later died, the force said.

A 24-year-old man, who was treated in hospital for minor injuries, has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

"A knife has also since been recovered as part of our inquiries," Det Ch Insp Leanne Murphy said.

"While we are in the very early stages of our investigation, we have established that an altercation is believed to have occurred between the two men, who are thought to be associated to one another."

Police said efforts were being made to identify the man and to locate his next of kin.

Multiple scene guards remain in place on Flamborough Road, First Avenue and Alexandra Promenade, a spokesperson added.

Anyone with information or CCTV footage is asked to contact police via the 101 non-emergency number.

Alternatively, information can be reported anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
