Firefighters are tackling a blaze at a scrapyard on the Isle of Wight, with eight metal shipping containers involved.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said a 200m cordon had been set up around the incident at Smallbrook Lane, Ryde, which it first reported at 13:15 BST.

Smallbrook Lane and Great Preston Road have been closed and people should avoid the area, police said.

Thick black smoke could be seen rising from the site, which is close to Smallbrook Stadium.
