Two men and a woman were arrested after the boy was taken to hospital

Two men and a woman have been arrested after a one-year-old boy was taken to hospital on the Isle of Wight.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight police said it was alerted to concerns about the boy's welfare on Wednesday at about 09:30 BST after he was seen at St Mary's Hospital in Newport.

A woman, 26, and man, 25, from Ryde, and a 26-year-old man from Shanklin were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. The pair from Ryde were also held on suspicion of assault and ill-treatment or neglect of a child likely to cause unnecessary suffering or injury.

The force said all three had been bailed until 26 November with strict conditions whilst inquiries "into the matter were ongoing".
