Police seize super cars after peak-time convoy

Thirteen luxury cars have been seized by police following reports of dangerous and anti-social driving on the M11.

Lamborghinis, Audi R8s, a Ferrari and a Porsche, were all seized by Essex Police at about 16.20 BST on Tuesday.

Members of the public contacted police after they saw a convoy of supercars travelling northbound on the M11 after joining from London, officers said.

Sgt Will Willsher from Essex Police added: "The behaviour reported to us was not only anti-social but potentially placed other road users at serious risk, especially on a busy motorway during peak travel times."

Officers arrived at the services at junction 8, Birchanger Green Interchange near Bishop's Stortford and carried out enforcement action.

Thirteen warnings for anti-social driving were issued, and the vehicles were seized.

An investigation is ongoing and officers have asked people who might have more information to come forward.

Witnesses told the police they saw vehicles accelerating at excessive speed before slowing down suddenly.

Drivers were also allegedly braking heavily, bunching together and disrupting the flow of traffic and using the hard shoulder to undertake other road users.
