Hardware shop closed over 'links to drug dealing'

A hardware store linked to drug dealing has been forced to close for three months, Cambridgeshire Police said.

An application for a full closure order relating to Mini DIY, in Lincoln Road, Peterborough, was granted at the city's magistrates' court on Wednesday, the force added.

PC James Rice said the behaviour linked to the shop had "caused misery for local people" and hoped the closure brought "some respite for the community".

The order means the whole premises, including any outdoor space, must be closed to everyone except the landlord and their contractors, the city council, and the emergency services. Breaching the order could result in up to three months in prison, a fine, or both.
