Child neglect arrests after baby dies

Two people have been arrested following the death of a one-year-old girl.

Emergency services were called to a home in Atherstone in Warwickshire at about 11:50 BST to reports of a child in cardiac arrest. She was pronounced dead at the scene a short while later, police said.

A man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of child neglect and they remain in custody.

Police remain at the scene and a cordon has been put in place. Parts of Long Street have been closed. Officers said they knew people would find the news upsetting and encouraged residents to speak to police at the scene if they had any concerns.
