Teenage boy suffers burns in aerosol can explosion

A teenage boy has been burned after an aerosol can exploded when it was thrown into a fire.

Emergency services were called to a golf course on Coleshill Road in Atherstone, Warwickshire, at about 12:05 BST on Tuesday.

Warwickshire Police said the explosion happened after a number of children were involved in starting a fire near the venue.

The boy suffered several burns to his arms and legs and was given first aid, the force said.

West Midlands Ambulance service said he was treated for injuries at the scene before being discharged.

Officers have appealed directly to parents in the area to ask their children about their whereabouts on Tuesday morning.

"We would urge all parents in Atherstone and neighbouring villages to have a conversation with their children around the dangers of fires, in particular with the extreme dry weather we are currently experiencing," a spokesperson added.
