Valentine card from Amy Winehouse is sold for £5k
Getty ImagesA Valentine's Day card sent by Amy Winehouse to her jailed husband has been auctioned for nearly £5,000 in Surrey, 15 years after her death.
The late singer posted the love note to Blake Fielder-Civil after he ended up behind bars in 2008 for assault and perverting the course of justice.
Winehouse mailed the card from an island in the Caribbean where she had been holidaying with another man - the Back to Black star having already filed for divorce from Fielder-Civil, with whom she had tied the knot in May 2007.
Andrew Ewbank, of Ewbank's auctioneers in Woking said the item was a "fascinating insight" into Winehouse's life and called her "one of the greatest artists of modern times".
Winehouse, who died from accidental alcohol poisoning in 2011, aged 27, wrote in the card: "My husband, my Blake, virtue Is violent and violets are blue, blue-bruised is my heart, since its beatings' for you.
"I love you, handsome. 4 years your Amy x," she added.
The couple's marriage ended uncontested at London's High Court in July 2009.
Ewbank'sThe item was part of a huge package of music memorabilia which went up for grabs on Wednesday, including signed guitars from Bruce Springsteen and Oasis, autographed albums from Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones, as well as ephemera from musical legends such as The Beatles, Bob Dylan and Queen.
A school cap and tie, worn on stage by Angus Young, lead guitarist with Australian rockers AC/DC, was another big seller, fetching just over £10,000.
An early poster for Pink Floyd, whose founding member Roger Waters is from Great Bookham in the Mole Valley district, also sold for £4,810.
Ewbank said the sales showed "the market for music memorabilia is stronger than ever".
