Five sought in connection with fatal car shooting

Officers investigating the murder of a man shot in a car in 2022, have named five men they would like to speak to in connection with the attack.

Mohammed Kasim, 30, died in hospital after being injured on Eversley Road in Small Heath, Birmingham, shortly after midnight on 7 July.

A second victim was also shot, but has since recovered, police said.

Det Insp Nigel Box said the investigation was still active, adding: "We remain focused on doing all we can to bring Kasim's killer to justice".

The force has issued an appeal to help locate Mahir Omar, 26, Musdaf Ahmed, 28, Mohammed Diriye, 26, Muscab Ibrahim, 26, and Mahamad Ibrahim, 27.

All five are known to have links to Birmingham.

Five people were arrested in 2022 in connection with the murder, and released on police bail.

West Midlands Police has been asked if any of the suspects they are now seeking to interview were arrested at the time.

"Our thoughts remain with Kasim's family, we are supporting them and keeping up to date," added Det Insp Box.

Following his death, Kasim's family said he was "a kind hearted, selfless, caring person. An amazing dad, son and brother, who will be missed so dearly".
