There will be rolling road closures put in place in Birmingham from 04:30 on Sunday

Thousands of runners are set to take to the streets for the Great Birmingham Run this weekend.

The sold-out race is one of the Midlands' biggest running fixtures, with crowds expected to line the route on Sunday, and drivers warned that rolling road closures will be in place from 04:30 BST.

About 16,000 participants will take part over the weekend which includes a 10k and half marathon on Sunday, as well as junior and mini runs on Saturday.

What are the routes?

On Sunday, the half marathon and 10k routes will once again "showcase Birmingham at its best", starting in Centenary Square and passing major landmarks including the Jewellery Quarter, Grand Central and St Martin's Church, organisers said.

This year, runners will cross the line at a new "festival-style" finish village at Aston University, which organisers said marked an exciting update to the event route.
