Police have confirmed they have recovered a car suspected of being involved in a hit-and-run incident after a pedestrian died, which will now be examined.

A brown Vauxhall Astra hit Shaun Harron, aged 44, at the junction of Romsley Road and Adams Hill in Bartley Green, Birmingham, just after 00:30 BST on Sunday. The car did not stop after the collision and headed away in the direction of Jiggins Lane.

Harron was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The force added: "We are still appealing for anyone with information or footage to please get in touch with us as we continue to investigate."

West Midlands Police previously said specialist investigators were scouring CCTV and doing door-to-door inquiries to identify the driver involved.

Sgt Rich Evans said: "Tragically Shaun Harron has lost his life after being struck by a car which did not then stop, and our thoughts are with his loved ones at this terrible time.

"We'd also ask anyone who was in the area or may have dashcam footage as they drove through at around the time of the collision, to get in contact."
