Girl, 13, in 2024 rape case 'lives in fear'
The family of a 13-year-old girl who was raped in a London park two years ago say she "continues to live in fear" as police release CCTV images of two men they want to speak to.
The Metropolitan Police received reports that the girl had been attacked in Weavers Fields, Bethnal Green, at about 23:30 BST on 1 August 2024. The girl said she had been led into the park by two men she had seen on Whitechapel Road. She was later found by a member of the public.
Officers have since reviewed CCTV footage, conducted forensic examinations and spoken with potential witnesses, the force said.
It urged anyone who recognises the men in the CCTV footage to come forward.
A £10,000 reward is also on offer from the independent charity Crimestoppers.
The victim's family said: "Our daughter continues to live in fear for her safety and no longer feels comfortable being on her own.
"She should be enjoying her teenage years, spending time with friends, growing in confidence and looking forward to the future.
"Instead, so much of that has been taken away from her as a result of this incident."
Det Ch Insp Anna Deighton, leading the investigation, said it was "an awful attack" on a teenage girl who was "targeted and subjected to sexual violence".
"Two years on, our inquiries into this investigation are continuing. If you recognise the men in the CCTV we have released with this appeal, please come forward and speak to us," she said.
