Watch: Water gushes into the air from burst pipe
A man filmed a huge fountain of water gushing into the air from a burst pipe near his home.
Trevor Fryatt, 67, who captured the footage in New Street, Stradbroke, Suffolk on Monday, said: "We're all on hosepipe bans yet what we've lost this morning is an incredible amount, because the road is flooded."
Essex & Suffolk Water confirmed the incident was caused by contractors fixing another leak but added the hot, dry weather could also cause pipes to shift and crack more easily.
A spokeswoman said: "During the repair, due to the pressure of the network, a small part of the main unfortunately burst - however this was swiftly repaired within an hour."
The company added both leaks had now been repaired and there was no impact to customer supplies.
