Arrest after ram-raid attempt at jewellery shop

A man has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary after an attempted ram-raid at a jewellery shop.

A group of people entered the store on Duckworth Lane in Bradford at 13:19 BST on Saturday after a Nissan Navara had been deliberately driven into the shop front, according to police.

A 38-year-old man was arrested and bailed pending further inquiries, they added.

A 47-year-old woman, who was a customer in the shop at the time, was treated for minor injuries.

CCTV footage from within Pakistan Jewellers showed a reversing car crash through the front of the premises, before a group of balaclava-clad men briefly entered the store. No items were stolen.

Mohammed Ali, 20, who runs the business with his father, told the BBC on Sunday he had been left shocked and angry.

"It was just a normal Saturday and the shop had been really busy," he said.

"It was horrible. We've just been clearing everything up today."
