Six arrested following city centre protest
Mike Buttery/BBCSix people have been arrested following a planned protest in Sheffield city centre.
The group Raise the Colours, which aims to "cover Britain in flags", gathered at the Peace Gardens and counter-protesters at Tudor Square on Saturday.
South Yorkshire Police said four men - aged 26, 32, 36, and one of an unknown age - were arrested on suspicion of public order offences.
A 65-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault, and a 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of assault of an emergency worker.
The force said a "full policing operation" had been put in place.
It imposed legal conditions on both groups, including time limits on gatherings and route restrictions on marches.
Supt Charlotte Bloxham said counter-protesters had "complicated" the operation by not adhering to the conditions in place.
"I understand that protests can cause disruption, and we will always aim to minimise such disruption while enabling people to protest peacefully and lawfully," she said.
The force has not specified which protest groups the arrested individuals had been part of.
"Those who did not remain peaceful were dealt with appropriately," Supt Bloxham said.
"We respect the rights of everyone to take part in lawful and peaceful protests, but we will not tolerate criminality or anti-social behaviour."
