Under-pressure hospital cancels non-urgent surgery
BBCNon-emergency surgery at the Isle of Man's main hospital has been cancelled for the rest of the week due to "significant operational pressures".
Manx Care said a "very high demand for care and limited capacity across services" meant planned operations would be paused until Monday.
In a statement, the healthcare provider said it had "taken the difficult decision to stand down all elective procedures".
Cancer care and urgent treatment will continue at the Braddan facility.
Apologising to those affected by the decision, Manx Care said it understood how "disappointing and frustrating it will be".
The care provider thanked people for their "patience and understanding while our teams work hard to care for those most in need".
Despite the pressures, emergency care services "remain open and available", it said, adding: "Please continue to seek urgent medical attention if you require it."
