Work is progressing on plans to build a new car park at one of Scotland's most popular visitor locations.

More than two million visitors pass through Glen Coe each year.

But its popularity has led to growing pressure on Glencoe village's limited parking provision, causing congestion and safety risks for pedestrians and road users.

Highland Council said the new facility would ease the traffic problems and it expects the project to go out to tender shortly.

The car park has been proposed for an area of land in Glencoe, and it would include accessible bays, electric vehicle charging points, bicycle racks and a bus stop and coach drop-off point.

Highland Council said it would also encourage greener travel choices by supporting walking, cycling and low-carbon transport.

The project has been funded by VisitScotland's Rural Tourism Infrastructure Fund, the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and Highland Council.
