PC accused of racism over chocolate bar comments
Getty ImagesA North Yorkshire police officer has been accused of repeatedly breaching professional standards after comparing colleagues' skin colours to a variety of chocolate bars.
The PC, who has not been named, faces three allegations that they correlated other employees' appearance with confectionary, including Bounty, Galaxy and Milky Way.
The alleged incidents, which occurred between April 2022 and October 2023, also include making insulting comments about Ramadan.
The force has convened a misconduct panel to consider the allegations on 5 May, and said if found proven, the behaviours, which would breach a variety of standards, were "so serious" they amounted to gross misconduct.
