Man in court after major police operation at Angus property

A major police operation was launched in Kingennie on Wednesday

A 50-year-old man has appeared in court following a major police operation at a property in Angus that closed a road for more than 10 hours.

Police attended a property in the village of Kingennie in connection with an ongoing inquiry at 11:50 on Wednesday.

Stewart Carson is accused of culpable and reckless conduct and a breach of bail conditions.

Eleven police vehicles, along with two fire appliances and an ambulance, attended the incident.

Carson made no plea during a hearing in private at Forfar Sheriff Court and was remanded in custody.

The case was continued for further examination and will call again within the next eight days.

The village of Kingennie is about two miles north of Monifieth.

Diversions were put in place and members of the public were asked to avoid the area, with the road reopening at about 22:00.
