A man has appeared in court accused of killing a grandmother by driving a motorbike dangerously, following a crash which also left her grandchild seriously injured.

Gillian Livingstone, 76, died while crossing Ennerdale Road in Cleator Moor on Tuesday, according to Cumbria Police. Her grandchild is in a stable condition in hospital after receiving a serious head injury.

Kieran Yorke, 22, from Egremont, has been charged with causing the death of the pensioner and injuring the child, as well as being unlicensed and uninsured at the time.

He was granted conditional bail at Workington Magistrates' Court earlier and is next due to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on 26 June.

Two other men, aged 22 and 23 respectively, have been bailed pending further inquiries.
