Two arrests after south Belfast security alert
Getty ImagesTwo people have been arrested after a security alert at Roosevelt Street, close to Donegall Road, in south Belfast.
A number of people were moved from their homes, but can now return.
Several items have been recovered after a search of a property during the early hours of Thursday morning and have been removed for further examination.
Residents in Iverna Street were also evacuated, and the Sandy Row Community Centre had been opened for people.
A man and a woman, who are both 37, remain in custody.
South Belfast Local Policing Insp Stallard said: "We appreciate the inconvenience caused to residents when they were out of their homes, and we thank them for their patience and co-operation as this public safety operation was conducted."
Police officers remain at the scene.
