Arrest after man assaulted in road rage attack

Police have made an arrest after a man was assaulted in a road rage attack in Ilkeston.

Derbyshire Police said a black BMW and white Range Rover were involved in a crash in Chalons Way at about 17:50 BST on Saturday. Witnesses, the force said, described how a man who was driving the BMW got out and assaulted a man who was driving the Range Rover.

A man, in his 50s, was taken to hospital to be treated for swelling and bruising to his face.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault, grievous bodily harm and failing to stop after a road accident, police said. It added he had been released on conditional bail.

According to the force, there were "reportedly multiple incidents of road rage" involving the two vehicles prior to the crash.

Officers have urged any witnesses, or anyone who may have dashcam footage, to contact the force.
