Dangerous-driving arrest after cyclist dies in crash
GoogleA man has been arrested after a 65-year-old cyclist died in a late-night collision with a car in Oxford.
Thames Valley Police said the crash involving a Volkswagen Golf and the bicycle took place shortly after 23:00 BST on Tuesday on Iffley Road, near Donnington Bridge Road.
The force said the cyclist, who was a local man, sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 21-year-old man from Oxford was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody.
Donnington Bridge Road was closed by police for several hours following the crash, but has since reopened.
Police urged any witnesses to the incident to contact the force - particularly those who had seen the vehicle and cyclist leading up to the collision.
