A man has been charged with a number of offences after a police officer was hit by a car in Oakham.

Leicestershire Police said the officer was struck as the force investigated an "illegally parked Honda CR-V" in High Street at 15:10 GMT on 26 January.

The officer sustained cuts and grazes after hitting the bonnet and landing on the pavement, police added.

Ndricim Jakupi, 30, of no fixed address, has been charged with assault by beating an emergency worker, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and driving with no insurance.

Jakupi has also been charged with stalking. This is an unrelated offence that is reported to have happened in Hertfordshire, the force added.
