A World War Two air raid siren will sound as part of an armed forces festival.

The event, at the Fort Paull Battery Heritage Site in East Yorkshire on Saturday, will include the sounding of the siren at 14:30 BST.

Residents nearby are being forewarned about the alarm, which organisers said was previously housed at Hedon Town Hall.

Fort Paull's Nick Taylor said the team had "no idea" how loud or how far the siren might travel, and asked residents who hear it to let them know via their Facebook page so they can map its reach.

"We want everyone to know there's no cause for alarm," he said.

The event, taking place between 10:00 and 16:00 BST, is being held in conjunction with Hull for Heroes veteran's charity, with both organisations sharing the proceeds.

As well as the air raid siren, the event will feature entertainment from the Leconfield Military Wives Choir and 1940s-themed performances, as well as displays from the emergency services and entertainment for children, including fairground rides.
