Plans for a Liver Bird themed play area in Liverpool ONE shopping centre have been revealed.

The free to use city centre play area named The Kingdom of the Liver Bird would see a 1,010 sq m (10871sq ft) space transformed on Chavasse Park and is designed for children of all ages and abilities.

It is set to feature a Liver Bird Tower with tube slide, a zipline and trampoline area as well as tunnels, climbing structures, climbing structures and musical elements.

If approved work is expected to start in early 2027.

Currently there is only one other outdoor public playground in the city centre at Great Georges Square on Upper Pitt Street.

"We're excited to share plans for this major new play space at Chavasse Park, which will further strengthen Liverpool One's family offering and create even more opportunities to spend quality time together outdoors," Brendan Hattam, Centre Director at Liverpool ONE, said.

"The Kingdom of the Liver Bird has been designed with local families in mind, encouraging fun-filled experiences inspired by a symbol that sits at the heart of the city's identity.

"We're proud to be investing in new family facilities that enhance our offering here and this play area will create a vibrant space for children of all ages to enjoy."
