Fire breaks out at north east landfill site as thick smoke billows near road

A fire has broken out in a building at a landfill site near Peterhead.

Firefighters were called to Stoneyhill Quarry near Longhaven village at about 14:15, sending six vehicles and two specialist resources.

Footage taken from a car driving along a nearby road captures thick smoke billowing out of a building.

Police have urged members of the public to avoid the area, with road closures in place between Auchiries and Cairn Catto.

Crews were still tackling the blaze at 22:00 with four fire engines at the scene.
