Smoke warning as crews tackle two wildfires
Barnsley EssentialsResidents have been urged to keep doors and windows shut as crews fight two wildfires in the Grimethorpe area.
Eight crews are tackling a blaze off the A6195 Park Spring Road, which passes Grimethorpe Nature Reserve. The road has been closed in both directions, with smoke passing over the carriageway.
Meanwhile six crews are at the scene off Springvale Road.
South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "Due to the large amount of smoke, firefighters are advising local residents to keep their doors and windows closed."
South Yorkshire Police said of the A6195 incident: "Please be aware that Park Spring Road is currently closed between Grimethorpe Colliery Roundabout and Houghton Main Colliery Roundabout due to a fire.
"Emergency services are at the scene and we will provide further details regarding the road closure as soon as we are able to."
