Thousands watch RAF Freedom of the City Parade
BBCThousands of people have lined the streets of Lincoln for the annual march past of RAF personnel from the nearby Waddington base.
The Freedom of the City Parade celebrates the links between Lincoln and the air force.
More than 100 servicemen and women took part, accompanied by an RAF pipe band.
A planned fly past by the Red Arrows was cancelled due to the weather, which caused low clouds, City of Lincoln Council said.
Shirley Henry / BBCDespite the rain, crowds stood and watched the procession as it passed down the High Street.
Sheila Harvey, who was with her husband Roger, said it was about "showing solidarity" to service personnel.
"Lincoln is just so with the military," she said.
"We've had family and my husband has been in the military as well. It's just respect really."
Shirley Henry / BBCGeorge Dennis, who served in the RAF for 22 years, said it was important to honour the armed forces.
He said: "Our ancestors and our fathers and our grandfathers fought for us, for our freedom, that we got the right for freedom of speech and that we can carry on living our own lives the way we want to.
"And it was their lives that they gave for us."
